When roof tiles are exposed to harsh weather conditions, they can be prone to damage and decay caused by water ingress. Like many mineral building surfaces, roof tiles are porous, meaning they will absorb moisture. When this moisture is absorbed, it creates wet & cold areas that allow weeds such as moss to thrive. Discolouration from consistent wetness also follows, eventually leading to roof tiles that become highly weathered and looking far from their best. Aside from aesthetic appearance, the ageing or breakdown of the roof is accelerated by the moisture, leading to roof tiles cracking and becoming damaged.

Approved ProPERLA Applicators Pure Water Roofing were tasked with cleaning and treating this clay roof property in order to restore it to its former glory. ProPERLA Water Repellent was selected as it creates an invisible water repellent surface on roof tiles that protects the roof from weathering while maintaining the natural beauty of the roof. This is in contrast to the coloured RENOTEC Roof Coating that contains the same super hydrophobic technology, but in a new colour.

After cleaning the roof using a suitable cleaning system, Pure Water Roofing uncovered a completely different colour to the roof that was covered by moss, green growth & dirt. After cleaning, the clear waterproofing treatment was applied using a hand-pump sprayer and left to completely dry. After application, the roof was completely water repellent while still highly breathable thanks to ProPERLA nano technology. Furthermore, due to the water repellent surface that was created, the roof was given self-cleaning properties. This is because dirt particles are unable to obtain a hold on ProPERLA treated surfaces and will simply flow off with rainfall. The roof was also left protected from discolouration, the growth of moss and further ageing caused by moisture.

As Approved Applicators of ProPERLA products, Pure Water Roofing were able to issue a 10 year manufacturer's guarantee to the homeowner on behalf of ProPERLA UK, ensuring the long-term performance of their newly coated roof in all weather conditions.
